There's this thing I like to call manners. There's also generosity...things among that topic.
But why does most World of Warcraft players not seem to have this?
If someone has a sword that has x dps, and another person has a sword that has y dps, and a sword drops that has z dps, who gets it? I look at who needs it most, how many things they've won before, and other things that I think are necessary.
So say that this one person has a sword that, if they get the sword with z dps, it will increase their dps from their sword with x dps by about, 5. Now say that there's another person that wants the sword with z dps too, but they have the sword with y dps. The only difference is that the amount of dps that the z sword will give compared to the y sword is about, 20. Who should get it?
I was in a similar situation like this. The Widow's Fury dropped off of Widow Faerlina (or w/e his name is), and another rogue and I rolled on it. I pointed out while we were rolling that the other rogue already had an epic sword, and mine was still blue, and it would have been a way bigger upgrade for me then her. The raid seemed to shrug it off. Then, the rolls came out: 39 and 40. The other rogue had 40. Now, earlier in the raid, some rogue who was completely geared out that ran about 4k dps on bosses won the roll on the Fool's Trial. She rolled because she wanted to give me the item by simply giving up her roll to me. But, the raid seemed to have a problem with this. They seem to think that because I didn't get the roll personally, I don't deserve it. That one wasn't as big of a problem. I didn't need the Fool's Trial as much as I needed the Widow's Fury, since Hailstorm refuses to drop for me.
The reason I bring this up is because, in my opinion, the rogue that won it should have offered it to me. She WAS the lootmaster. Wouldn't it be common courtesy to offer an item to a rogue who needs it 4x as much as you do? It would make your guild look good as well as making yourself look not too shappy yourself. But, no. This didn't happen. The rogue was going mad over vent, and I just pretended to ignore it while I sent venting messages to friends. They agreed with me.
This problem worsens even further. We grouped today again to finish up 25 Naxx, and I inspected her. She still had not equipped the Widow's Fury. I didn't ask her why, but it annoyed me on the inside to see that she rolled on an item that she hasn't equipped after a day's time. If it were me, I would have equipped it immediately, even if my original sword had mongoose on it.
So, what do you guys think of this? Is it usual for players to not have common courtesy in raids simply because they want all the items to themselves? Is it like this on your server? Because on my server, people seem to be pretty nice when it comes to rolls.
P.S: I got the slightest revenge later. My mainhand is the Silent Crusader, a BoE drop in 25 Naxx. The rogue who won the Widow's Fury whispered me, "I REALLY want the Silent Crusader! Ugh!!" as we were waiting for Patchwerk to pat back. I then replied, "I REALLY wanted the Widow's Fury. = / Oh well."
Hahahahaha.
